Cookie policy

This website sets no cookies. Here’s how we count visits without them, and what the app keeps on your device.

Last updated

The short version

  • This website sets no cookies. There’s nothing to accept or refuse, so there’s no cookie banner.
  • We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
  • The app keeps some information on your device so it works: your sign-in, an offline copy of your cards, drafts and settings. That’s storage the app needs to do what you asked, not tracking.
  • Nothing on the website or in the app is used for advertising.

This website

francroyable.com is a set of plain pages. It doesn’t set cookies, use your browser’s storage, or load anything from other sites: no embedded videos, social buttons, web fonts or ad scripts. The App Store badge is a link and an image on this site.

Visit counts

To know how many people visit and which pages help, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small script sends Cloudflare:

  • the page you’re on and the page that linked to it;
  • your browser, operating system and type of device;
  • your country, worked out from your IP address;
  • how long the page took to load.

It doesn’t set cookies, doesn’t store your IP address, doesn’t follow you across sites and doesn’t build a profile of you. We only see totals, such as “200 visits to the guide this week”. If your browser blocks the script, the site works exactly the same.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, and keeps limited logs for security. Cloudflare is in the United States; transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

The app

The Francroyable app stores the following on your device. Each item is needed for a feature you use, which is why the app doesn’t ask for consent first (this kind of storage is exempt under the EU ePrivacy rules).

On an iPhone or Android phone these are kept in the app’s own storage. If you use Francroyable in a web browser, they’re kept in that browser’s local storage for the app’s address. The app doesn’t use cookies in either case.

What Why
Your sign-in session Keeps you signed in, so you don’t need a new code each time. Removed when you sign out.
A copy of your cards, decks and progress Lets you learn and add cards offline. Saves made offline wait here until they sync.
Your drafts Keeps a card you started in Add if you leave before saving.
Settings Your appearance (light or dark), whether you speak your answers, your last deck, and your recent searches in Cards.
Your current chat Reopens the conversation you were in.
Audio you’ve played Plays sentences again without downloading them, and offline. The app keeps up to 50 MB and drops the oldest first.
Your pronunciation recording Lets you play back your last try in “Say it”. It’s replaced on each try and never leaves your device.
Small notes for the app itself Which account the offline copy belongs to, when audio was last downloaded ahead, and a one-off notice after deleting an account.

When you sign out, your session is removed. The offline copy stays, so cards saved offline aren’t lost, and it’s cleared if someone else signs in on the same device. When you delete your account, the app clears its copy of your cards and progress, your drafts and your chat. Appearance and played audio (which holds no personal information) stay until you delete the app, which removes everything.

Changes

If we start using cookies or other tracking on the website, we’ll update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
